Global sales from sawnwood exports by country amounted to US$34.6 billion in 2016.
Overall, the value of sawnwood exports were up by an average 9.4 per cent for all exporting countries since 2012 when sawnwood shipments were valued at $31.7 billion. Year-over-year, the value of global sawnwood exports appreciated by 3.2 per cent from 2015 to 2016.
Among continents, European countries accounted for the highest dollar value worth of sawnwood exports during 2016 with shipments amounting to $17.2 billion or nearly half (49.6%) of the global total.
In second place were North American exporters at 32.1 per cent while 8.3 per cent of worldwide sawnwood shipments originated from Asian suppliers. Latin America (excluding Mexico) and Caribbean nations came in at five per cent, followed by Africa at three per cent. Oceania (mainly Australia and New Zealand) trailed at two per cent.
