The shortage of lumber has led to an increase in prices for timber in Russia. It may take years for the market to recover, some experts say.
Over the past six months, timber in Russia has added an average of 30% in price, said Ivan Melekhov, co-owner of FiNEX Handcrafted Floors brand. At the same time, some tree species have risen in price by 80%. Lumber was no exception: last spring a cubic meter cost an average of 11.000 rubles/cubic meter (around EUR 127/m3), now - about 26 thousand rubles (EUR 300/m3). Since November 2020, the cost of timber and edged boards on the Russian market has almost doubled.
