The Canadian lumber production increased by 8% in 2015, compared to 2014. Thus, production summed 26.7 billion board feet, out of which, BC’s output got to 13.2 bbf, going 5% up. At the same time, the share BC in the nation’s output went down under 50%, from 51% last year.
BC’s Northern Interior summed 6.3 bff, going up by 12% compared to 2014, passing on all the provinces. The next in total lumber production gains was Quebec, which rose by 10%, reaching 5.8 bff. BC’s Southern Interior registered a 2% drop, reaching 5.4 bff.
All of Canada’s production in December went 5% down, compared to November, at 2.2 bff. Also, Quebec's production fell down to 487 million board feet, from its 543 mmbf reached in November 2015. Except Alberta, where lumber production dropped 7%, all the other Canadian provinces recorded approximately a 1% drop compared to November.
