US cuts European softwood lumber supply by nearly 20%

U.S. softwood lumber imports from Europe experienced a noticeable decline in both volume and value during January–November 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Total imports from European Union countries dropped 19% in volume to 3.47 million cubic meters (cbm) and 14% in value to €881.37 million.    Germany remained the largest exporter to the U.S., but shipments fell by 18% to 1.86 million cbm, while the export value declined by 20% to €468.36 million.
