IKEA plans to open its largest store from the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) in Bahrain. The total investment rises up to $124,68 million.
The Swedish furniture retailer’s store in Bahrain will be located in Salmabad and will have a total retail area of 37,000 m2. The store is set to open by mid-2018, in in partnership with Saudi Arabia’s Ghassan Ahmed Al Sulaiman Furniture Trading Company, Ikea Saudi Arabia.
According to Construction Week Online, Ikea Bahrain will consist of 6,200 m2 in addition to a market hall covering the area of 6,000m2. Also, the store will have a self-serve area of 5,000m2 and 4,000 m2 of full serve area and an eatery consisting of 2500 m2 with a total capacity of 800 seats, the biggest restaurant in Bahrain, where customers can sample Swedish delicacies or a local favourite at the restaurant.
“We have been striving hard to seek expansion and grow this innovative brand into high potential markets since the start of partnership between Ikea and Ghassan Ahmed Al Sulaiman Furniture Trading Company dating back to 1983," Saud Ghassan Al Sulaiman, the CEO of Ikea Saudi Arabia and Bahrain said.
IKEA now has 385 stores opened throughout 48 countries.
