The price for Russian softwood lumber, denominated in US dollars, began to decline starting 2014, following the devaluation of the Russian ruble and the fall in world oil prices.
The decline in world market prices of lumber consumption continued throughout 2015 and at the end of 2015 the decline was 25% in average prices in 2014, while the Russian ruble depreciated by 69% against the US dollar during the same period.
