Czech Republic: Wood prices expected to rise even further due to high demand and shortages

Unusual increases in wood prices in the Czech Republic continue to impact producers in the furniture and construction industry. In the long-term, experts expect that the price of wood is likely to rise further, as well as demand for it.

The Czech construction and furniture industries have to deal with a lack of material, which causes both delays in orders and a significant increase in the price of all types of furniture and furniture services.

"The price of logs, apart from the prices of poorer quality wood, went up by about fifty percent. Even more for some assortments. The prices of softwood logs, especially spruce and pine, have started to rise significantly since the middle of last year. This year, there has been a significant increase in all quarters so far, and prices have risen so fast that they have changed from month to month, "Aleš Erber, a Czech forest analyst, told to the Czech media.
