In order to remedy climate change, the European Commission has set a number of demands on the member states. The issue of increasing carbon storage in forests and land is included in the LULUCF regulation. Sweden's commitment is to annually store an additional four million tons of carbon dioxide, an increase of nine percent, in forests and land until 2030.
