Exports of Finland’s forest industry fall sharply in Jan.-Oct. 2020

In October 2020 the exports value of Finland's forest industry products totaled EUR 0.87 billion. In January-October the exports value of forest industry products totaled in real terms EUR 8.60 billion. Compared to the same period previous year the exports value decreased by 16 percent.

In January-October the real exports value of Finland's wood products industries was EUR 2.02 billion and decreased from previous year 12 percent. In the same period the exports value of sawn goods decreased by 14 percent.

The exports value of Finland's pulp and paper industries totaled in real terms EUR 6.58 billion in January-October and decreased by 17 percent from the same period previous year. In the same period the exports value of paper decreased by 28 percent and of pulp by 21 percent. The exports value of paperboard did not change.

In January-October Finnish wood imports totaled 10.53 million cubic meters and increased by seven percent compared to same period previous year. In October 2020 wood imports totaled 1.07 million cubic meters.

Of imported wood in January-October 54 percent was pulpwood and 35 percent chips. In the same period the imports of pulpwood decreased by two percent and of chips increased by 18 percent.
