German wood pellets production dropped sharply in the first half of the year

The total amount of pellets produced in Germany from January to June 2016 reached 889,600 tonnes, which is 90,000 tonnes less (or 9,18%) than in the same period of 2015. Almost all the pellets produced met the quality classes ENplus A1/A2.

The main raw materials were wood residues (94%) and softwood (98%). The reason for the decline in production is mostly due to weather conditions, because of the mild 2015/2016 winter.
