IKEA opens two pop up shops in Madrid and Barcelona

As to celebrate the 20 years IKEA has been operating in Spain, the Swedish furniture retailer has opened two pop up shops in the center of Madrid and Barcelona.

The Madrid store will be located in the area of El Rastro, in Calle San Cayetano 5, and the Barcelona store will be on the street Comerç 17, in the area of El Born. Both stores will feature an assortment of exclusive products, a tribute to the merger between Sweden and Spain during these 20 years, which will not be available in any other IKEA store in Spain, as reported by Notifix.

There will be 10 days of opening, during which the two stores will organize workshop programmes on customizing furniture and home accessories. "Furniture decor with geometric figures" or "Aging furniture" are some of the workshops which will take place in Madrid, as to learn simple and inexpensive ways to give another aspect to home furnishings.

IKEA operates 16 stores in Spain and has influenced the Spanish homes to become more comfortable and practical since 1996.

The two little shops in Spain are part of a bigger plan IKEA has, including further investments in online shopping and pick-up points. During 2015, the company opened 19 pick-up points in central Stockholm or Oslo and plans to double its revenues from 2013, to € 50 billion by 2020.
