Interfor plans to demolish the Simpson Lumber mill in Tacoma, Washington, US. The mill, which was built in 2000, could be replaced by a 1.2 million m2 of office, warehouse and industrial use space, split up between two buildings
According to the plans, Building A will measure about 320,000 m2 and 5% of its space will be used for offices, while the other 95% will be used as warehouse space. Building B will be 935,000 m2 and will have 3% office space and 97% warehouse space.
, Interfor said. This brought $7.7 million losses for the Canadian company, which curtailed operations in May of 2015, dismissing over 100 workers, and completely shut down the site in July, according to Business Examiner.
When the site was shut down, Interfor's president Duncan Davies said that they would try to sell the property.
