Swedish forestry company Norra Timber will invest SEK 80mn (EUR 8.46mn USD 9.52mn) into a new saw line in Sävar sawmill north of Umeå.
The goal is to produce 220,000 cubic metres of sawn wood products. Norra CEO Pär Lärkeryd has commented that the investment will further increase the value of each log.
The company will also invest SEK 30mn into Kåge sawmill near Skellefteå, where the profile line will be upgraded. This investment is to increase the quality of sawn goods and decrease the risk for disruptions

The production facilities include two sawmills, two planing lines and a pole factory. Together these produce around 410,000 cubic metres of timber of which some 75,000 are machined and customised. The pole factory has an output of 60,000 turned pine poles a year.
