Despite reduced demand, reduced felling, reduced deliveries and the construction crisis, the price trend for Swedish forest products is positive. Two driving factors for this paradigm shift are a reduced global supply and a high cost situation.
''Supply availability has previously been singled out as the really big issue for the future in the global market for forest products. Recent developments, with increasing prices despite relatively weak demand, raises the question of whether we are not already seeing signs that reality has caught up. The future may very well turn out to be here already now,'' says Christian Nielsen, market analyst at the Swedish Forest Industries Federation (Skogsindustrierna).
