The 22nd China International Furniture Expo registered 17.75% more visitors

The 22nd China International Furniture Expo and the first Maison Shanghai ended on September 11, setting a new record for audience figures.

There was a total of 119,975 visitors from 158 countries and regions over the four days, which represented a year-on-year growth of 17.75%. Yet, the number of overseas visitors decreased for the first time, to 15,077, a year-on-year decrease of 21.58%.

The decrease was influenced by the G20 summit from Hangzhou, which made visa applications more difficult – plus the decline of the Chinese furniture industry in the first half of the year, which decreased by 10.73%.

National exhibition groups from seven countries have gathered in Hall W – from France, German, Belgium, Italy and Malaysia – as well as a total of 236 overseas brands from 26 countries and regions.

There were also domestic original furniture brands present such as HC28, Qumei Furniture, Norya, U+, Dickson and Expocasa.

Wang Mingliang, the founder and board director of Shanghai UBM Sinoexpo International Exhibition Co, says that Shanghai would become a core city of Chinese furniture expos, and that Shanghai Furniture Expo would continue to help make the city a pioneer in global furniture trends.
