There is rumor that the US proposed to reinstate across-the-board quotas, but the Canadian forestry company executives don’t seem to be interested, even if they’re hopeful for a new Softwood Lumber Agreement.
More specifically, the US wants to reinstate quotas which would limit the lumber quantity that could be exported to any of the countries, as Resolute Forest Products chief executive Richard Garneau stated.
