US lumber prices fall at the beginning of 2017

Framing lumber prices remained as previously established due to uneventful trading. Buyers were low on circulating new inquiries, while the traders returned to their offices on Monday and Tuesday.
The wintry weather dulled demand in the Midwest and Northeast, while snow and ice in parts of the Northwest sapped demand and created transportation problems. Many buyers spent time chasing previously placed orders. Mill output was also affected, and some late shipping emerged.
