Japan’s wood pellet demand to more than double in the next years

Japan reached the highest volume of wood pellet imports in July 2016, amounting to 52,000 tons. The previous high had been established in December 2015, when the imports’ volume rose up to 51,500 tons.

As a result, Japan is expected to finish 2016 having imported between 350,000 and 400,000 tons of wood pellets and producers around the world are optimistic that Japan’s wood pellet demand is set to rise steadily to 1 million tons per year within the next handful of years,
